Deborah "Mudiwa" Taitt-Cumberbatch received her BA at Marygrove College in Dance Performance with a Teacher’s Certification in May 1999.  Deborah has studied various techniques including Dunham, Horton, Ballet, African and Jazz which she has taught to children in the US and Barbados (including summer school at the renowned Alvin Ailey.

Deborah has completed numerous workshops with renowned dance masters such as Dr. Pearl Premus (African), Katherine Dunham (Dunham), Rex Nettleford (Caribbean Folklore), Lavenia Williams (African), Chuck Davis, (West African), Donald McKayle (Modern), Thea Barnes (Modern), Michael Peters ( Modern), and Antoinette Stines (Jamaican).

Some of Deborah’s performance credits include “The Nutcracker Ballet” with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, “Salome” with the Michigan Opera Theater, “Strong Women Keep Coming” with the Charles W. Wright Museum of African American History, and “Perilous Times” with the Music Hall. Deborah has also danced in various concerts as a member of the Barbados Dance Theater Company, Taitt 11 productions (Barbados), Dance Detroit Company, Pemajju School of Dance and the Detroit Windsor Dance Academy. Deborah is presently a member of Delou  Dance Ensemble ( Miami ) and Venus Rising: Women’s Drum and Dance Ensemble (Miami).
